What to Do & Where to Eat in Boston
We’re thrilled you’ll be joining us in Boston for the 4th annual National FSS Conference. While you are here, we hope you can enjoy some of the great activities and food Boston has to offer. Here are a few of our favorite places and activities in the downtown area.
Activities & Things to Do:
Walk the Freedom Trail.
The Freedom Trail is a 2.5-mile-long path in Boston that passes by 16 locations significant to the early history of the United States. Marked largely with brick, it winds from the Boston Common to the Bunker Hill Monument.
Admission: Free and Self-Guided
Visit the Boston Public Garden.
Walk through the Public Garden at any time of day for a quick escape from the city streets. This garden was the first botanical garden in the United States – and the Boston Common, just adjacent to the Public Garden, was America’s first public park.
Admission: Free
Stroll through Fanueil Hall and Quincy Market.
Located steps from the Boston Harbor, Faneuil Hall is a great place to eat, shop for souvenirs, and learn some Boston history. Just adjacent to Faneuil Hall is Quincy Market, a historic market complex where visitors can learn the history of the buildings.
Hours: 10am-9pm, Admission: Free
Eat Pastries in the North End.
The North End is a neighborhood of Boston, very close to the conference venue. It is the city’s oldest residential community, and home to many landmarks, including Paul Revere’s house. The North End’s Hanover Street is known for it’s quality Italian restaurants. If you’re looking for a treat, visit Mike’s Pastries or Modern Pastry Shop, also located on Hanover Street.
Visit the Skywalk Observatory.
The Skywalk Observatory, located at the top of the Prudential Center, is the only place in the city where you can see sweeping 360 views of Greater Boston and beyond. Entry into the exhibit also includes a free audio guide detailing the city’s many points of historical and cultural interest.
Hours: 10am-10pm, Admission: $21
Take a Duck Tour.
Boston’s Duck Tours are a one-of-a-kind way to see and learn about the city. On this 80-minute ride, a ConDUCKtor will take you through some of the historic, notable landmarks of Boston, sharing fun facts and interesting history. You’ll then take your adventure onto the Charles River where you’ll see the city from a whole different perspective.
Hours: Tours leave between 8:30am-7pm from multiple locations, Admission: $42.99
